The Check-In

Welcome to THE CHECK-IN, where you can get a sneak peek into my writing progress every week! Read on to find out what I’m working on and how things are progressing in my world.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • THERE HAS BEEN NO PROGRESS. EVERYTHING IS EXACTLY WHERE IT WAS BEFORE.

Except, of course, it’s really not. I hemmed and hawed about even making a check-in post this week, but I think it’s important to let y’all see the writing process for what it is. Sometimes you’re chugging along, putting word after word, and sometimes, life intervenes. AND THAT’S OKAY. It’s not like I’ve been idle since our last check in! I’ve had a book release, two full weekends of book tour stops, been working on getting Bloody is the Night into shape for submission, plus taking some time to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my partner.

Sometimes it’s okay when ‘progress’ doesn’t translate to ‘word count’. You don’t need to beat yourself up and you certainly aren’t any less of a writer.

LESSON OF THE WEEK: WORD COUNT DOES NOT EQUAL PROGRESS.
