The Check-In

Welcome to THE CHECK-IN, where you can get a sneak peek into my writing progress every week! Read on to find out what I’m working on and how things are progressing in my world.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Word counts remain where they were in previous weeks — but progress has been made!

I am so excited to be able to say that Bloody is the Night has been submitted to my publisher! It feels amazing to have that (even temporarily) “off my plate” so to speak. I know we have a long road of edits ahead of us, but still, to know that I finished that first draft and got it submitted? I feel pretty great about that.

I also got the lead magnet for The Night series sent off to my editor (my freelance editor, not my publisher’s editor) so that should be ready to go soon as well! It mostly needs cutting down, some shaping, that sort of thing.

Besides all of that though, I’ve been dealing with some health issues that have left me unable to commit to much day to day writing. I plan on talking about it more in this week’s Behind the Scene’s Sunday post, but suffice to say I have been down for the count due to chronic illness. It bums me out, but I also recognize that there’s very little I can do about it besides try to get better.

LESSON OF THE WEEK: RESPECT THE BODY’S ROLE IN YOUR WORK AND YOUR LIFE. IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT YOUR HEALTH…
